Description

This Warm Fig and Prosciutto Goat Cheese Dip is a delightful and elegant appetizer featuring creamy goat cheese and cream cheese blended smooth, combined with savory prosciutto, topped with sweet fig jam, and baked to warm perfection. Finished with crunchy chopped pistachios and served with crackers, this dip offers a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and creamy flavors, ideal for entertaining or cozy gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese Mixture

  • 225 g (8 oz) goat cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 115 g (4 oz) reduced-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 85–115 g (3–4 oz) prosciutto, finely chopped

Topping

  • 1 cup fig jam
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pistachios

To Serve

  • Crackers, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 200°C (400°F) to prepare for baking the dip.
  2. Blend the Cheeses: In a food processor, combine the softened goat cheese and cream cheese and blend until smooth and creamy. Alternatively, use a stand mixer or hand mixer to beat the cheeses together in a large bowl until creamy.
  3. Incorporate Prosciutto: Transfer the cheese mixture to a mixing bowl and gently fold in the finely chopped prosciutto until evenly distributed.
  4. Prepare Baking Dish: Spread the combined cheese and prosciutto mixture evenly into a 23 × 18 × 5 cm (9 × 7 × 2-inch) baking dish or pie plate, smoothing the surface with a spatula.
  5. Add Fig Jam: Evenly spread 1 cup of fig jam over the top of the cheese mixture layer.
  6. Bake the Dip: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the dip is warmed through and slightly bubbling.
  7. Finish and Serve: Remove from oven and sprinkle the chopped pistachios on top just before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature with your favorite crackers.

Notes

  • Allow the goat cheese and cream cheese to soften fully to room temperature to ensure smooth blending.
  • Adjust the amount of prosciutto according to your taste preference for a milder or stronger savory flavor.
  • If fig jam is unavailable, substitute with another sweet fruit preserve such as apricot or berry preserves for a different twist.
  • This dip is best served warm but can be prepared ahead and gently reheated before serving.
  • Use a shallow baking dish to allow even heating and easy dipping.
