Description

Turtle Lush is a decadent no-bake layered dessert featuring a rich Oreo crust, creamy chocolate pudding, whipped topping, and a luscious combination of caramel, chocolate syrup, and crunchy pecans. Perfect for gatherings and holidays, this indulgent treat requires minimal prep and chilling time to set, resulting in a crowd-pleasing dish that highlights the irresistible flavors of turtle candy.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 3 cups (about 300 grams) Oreo cookie crumbs
  • 8 tablespoons (115 grams) unsalted butter, melted

Filling

  • 8 ounces (225 grams) cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup (60 grams) powdered sugar
  • 8 ounces (225 grams) whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 package (5.9 ounces or 167 grams) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 3 cups (720 ml) cold milk

Toppings

  • ½ cup (120 ml) caramel sauce
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) chocolate syrup
  • 1 cup (120 grams) chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: In a mixing bowl, combine the Oreo cookie crumbs and melted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish to form an even crust layer. Chill the crust in the refrigerator while preparing the filling.
  2. Make the cream cheese mixture: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Fold in half of the whipped topping gently to maintain a light texture.
  3. Mix the pudding: In another bowl, whisk the instant chocolate pudding mix with the cold milk for about 2 minutes until it thickens. Allow it to set for a few minutes to reach the desired consistency.
  4. Assemble layers: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the chilled crust. Next, pour and spread the chocolate pudding layer on top of the cream cheese layer, smoothing with a spatula.
  5. Add whipped topping and toppings: Spread the remaining whipped topping over the pudding layer. Drizzle the caramel sauce and chocolate syrup evenly over the top. Sprinkle the chopped pecans generously, ensuring an even distribution.
  6. Chill: Cover the dessert with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until fully set. This chilling time allows the layers to meld together and the dessert to firm up for easy slicing.
  7. Serve: Once set, slice into 12 servings and serve chilled. Enjoy this rich, creamy, and crunchy delight that combines classic turtle candy flavors in every bite.

Notes

  • If you prefer a more intense chocolate flavor, you can add a layer of chocolate ganache before adding the whipped topping.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute the Oreo cookies with certified gluten-free chocolate cookies.
  • Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Allow the dessert to sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving for easier slicing.
  • Chilling overnight can enhance the flavors even further.
