Description

A classic and creamy spinach dip that’s perfect as a party appetizer or snack. Made with thawed spinach, sour cream, mayonnaise, water chestnuts, and a flavorful vegetable soup mix, this dip is chilled to develop rich and refreshing flavors. Serve it with bread chunks, crackers, or fresh veggies for a crowd-pleasing treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Dip Ingredients

  • 10 oz frozen chopped spinach (thawed and moisture squeezed out)
  • 1½ cups sour cream
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 package Knorr Vegetable Soup mix
  • 8 oz water chestnuts (drained)
  • 3 green onions (chopped, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Spinach: Thaw the frozen chopped spinach completely, then place it in a clean towel or several layers of paper towels and squeeze out as much excess moisture as possible to avoid a watery dip.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the thoroughly drained spinach, sour cream, mayonnaise, the entire package of Knorr Vegetable Soup mix, drained water chestnuts, and chopped green onions if using. Stir all ingredients together until well combined.
  3. Chill the Dip: Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap or a lid, then refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours or preferably overnight. This resting time allows the flavors to meld and the dip to thicken.
  4. Prepare Serving Option (Optional): For an attractive presentation, hollow out a round loaf of bread to create a bread bowl. Tear the removed bread pieces into bite-sized chunks for dipping.
  5. Serve: Transfer the chilled spinach dip into the bread bowl or a serving dish. Serve alongside crackers, bread chunks, or fresh vegetables for dipping and enjoying.

Notes

  • Make sure to thoroughly drain and squeeze out all moisture from the spinach to prevent the dip from becoming watery.
  • The dip benefits from chilling overnight to deepen the flavors.
  • Optional green onions add a mild onion flavor and fresh crunch.
  • Using a bread bowl adds a creative and tasty serving presentation, but you can simply serve in a bowl as well.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days for best freshness.
