Description

A zesty and refreshing non-alcoholic margarita featuring freshly squeezed lime and orange juices with a touch of agave syrup, sparkling water for fizz, and a salted rim. This perfectly balanced mocktail is ideal for spring gatherings or sunny afternoons, offering a vibrant, tangy flavor without alcohol.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Drink

  • ½ cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 4 limes)
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice (about 1 orange)
  • 1 tablespoon agave syrup or honey
  • ¼ cup sparkling water or club soda
  • Ice cubes

For Garnish

  • Lime wedges
  • Coarse salt for the rim
  • Optional: a few slices of jalapeño for a spicy twist

Instructions

  1. Prepare Glass Rims: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass to moisten it.
  2. Salt the Rims: Dip each glass rim into coarse salt to create a salted edge, then set the glasses aside.
  3. Mix Citrus and Sweetener: In a cocktail shaker or jar, combine the freshly squeezed lime juice, orange juice, and agave syrup. Shake or stir well until the agave syrup is fully dissolved.
  4. Add Ice: Fill the prepared glasses with ice cubes to chill the drink.
  5. Build the Drink: Pour the mixed citrus and sweetener over the ice in each glass, then top with sparkling water.
  6. Combine Gently: Stir gently to mix the flavors without losing carbonation from the sparkling water.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Garnish each glass with a lime wedge or a slice of jalapeño for an optional spicy kick. Serve immediately for optimal freshness and fizz.

Notes

  • You can substitute agave syrup with honey, but this will slightly change the flavor profile.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less agave syrup as per your taste preference.
  • For a spicier version, add jalapeño slices to the shaker when mixing the citrus juices.
  • Use freshly squeezed juices for the best flavor; bottled juices may alter the taste.
  • This recipe is best served immediately to retain the sparkling water’s fizz.
