Scale
For the Drink
- ½ cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 4 limes)
- ¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice (about 1 orange)
- 1 tablespoon agave syrup or honey
- ¼ cup sparkling water or club soda
- Ice cubes
For Garnish
- Lime wedges
- Coarse salt for the rim
- Optional: a few slices of jalapeño for a spicy twist
Instructions
- Prepare Glass Rims: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass to moisten it.
- Salt the Rims: Dip each glass rim into coarse salt to create a salted edge, then set the glasses aside.
- Mix Citrus and Sweetener: In a cocktail shaker or jar, combine the freshly squeezed lime juice, orange juice, and agave syrup. Shake or stir well until the agave syrup is fully dissolved.
- Add Ice: Fill the prepared glasses with ice cubes to chill the drink.
- Build the Drink: Pour the mixed citrus and sweetener over the ice in each glass, then top with sparkling water.
- Combine Gently: Stir gently to mix the flavors without losing carbonation from the sparkling water.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish each glass with a lime wedge or a slice of jalapeño for an optional spicy kick. Serve immediately for optimal freshness and fizz.
Notes
- You can substitute agave syrup with honey, but this will slightly change the flavor profile.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less agave syrup as per your taste preference.
- For a spicier version, add jalapeño slices to the shaker when mixing the citrus juices.
- Use freshly squeezed juices for the best flavor; bottled juices may alter the taste.
- This recipe is best served immediately to retain the sparkling water’s fizz.
