Ingredients
Scale
For the Coffee Mixture
- 1 ½ cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
For the Ladyfingers
- 24 ladyfinger cookies
For the Mascarpone Cream
- 1 ½ cups mascarpone cheese
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup heavy cream
For Garnish
- 1 cup shelled pistachios, finely chopped
- Cocoa powder, for dusting
Instructions
- Prepare Coffee Mixture: In a shallow dish, combine the cooled coffee and ¼ cup of granulated sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely to create a sweet coffee soak.
- Soak Ladyfingers: Briefly dip each ladyfinger cookie into the coffee mixture for a few seconds, ensuring both sides are coated without becoming soggy.
- Layer Ladyfingers: Arrange a layer of the soaked ladyfingers neatly at the bottom of a rectangular glass dish as the dessert’s base.
- Prepare Mascarpone Cream: In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, the remaining ½ cup of sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until the blend is smooth and creamy.
- Whip Cream: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture to create a light and airy cream.
- Assemble Layers: Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers. Evenly sprinkle half of the finely chopped pistachios across the cream layer.
- Repeat Layers: Add a second layer of soaked ladyfingers over the pistachios, then top with the remaining mascarpone cream and pistachios to build the dessert.
- Finish and Refrigerate: Top with a final layer of ladyfingers. Dust the surface with cocoa powder, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight to allow flavors to meld and dessert to set.
- Serve: Just before serving, add an extra dusting of cocoa powder and garnish with additional chopped pistachios for a beautiful presentation and added texture.
Notes
- Use cooled coffee to avoid melting the ladyfingers too quickly when soaking.
- Be careful not to soak ladyfingers too long to prevent sogginess.
- For a nut-free version, omit the pistachios and garnish with chocolate shavings instead.
- Chilling overnight improves the texture and flavor melding of the tiramisu.
- For a stronger coffee flavor, espresso can be used in place of brewed coffee.
