Description

These Pan-Fried Beef Tacos offer a delightful combination of crispy tortillas and juicy, seasoned ground beef filling. Perfectly pan-fried to golden perfection, these tacos deliver restaurant-style crunch and rich flavor, enhanced by melty cheese and optional fresh toppings.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Tortillas & Cheese

  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)

For Frying

  • 2–3 tbsp oil (for frying)

Optional Toppings

  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Sour cream
  • Salsa or hot sauce
  • Avocado or guacamole
  • Fresh cilantro

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with finely chopped onions and minced garlic until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat to avoid greasiness.
  2. Season the filling: Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Continue cooking the mixture for another 2–3 minutes so the spices fully infuse the meat.
  3. Assemble tacos: Place a spoonful of the seasoned beef mixture and a sprinkle of shredded cheese onto one half of each tortilla. Fold the tortilla over to form a half-moon shape, covering the filling.
  4. Pan-fry to crisp: Heat 2–3 tablespoons of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the folded tacos in the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side until the tortillas are golden brown and crispy, and the cheese inside has melted.
  5. Drain and serve: Remove the tacos from the skillet and place them on paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
  6. Add toppings: Open the tacos slightly and add your favorite fresh toppings such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, salsa, avocado, or cilantro to enhance flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Avoid overfilling the tacos to ensure they seal properly during frying and don’t fall apart.
  • Maintain medium heat while frying to prevent burning before the cheese melts inside.
  • Press the tacos gently with a spatula while frying for even crisping on both sides.
  • Experiment with adding jalapeños or chipotle for a smoky, spicy kick.
  • You can substitute ground beef with shredded beef or chicken for variety.
  • Use pepper jack cheese for an extra spicy flavor.
