Description

Old Bay Wings are crispy, flavorful baked chicken wings seasoned with the classic Old Bay spice blend, garlic, and onion powders. Perfectly baked until golden and crisp, they are easy to prepare and make an ideal appetizer or main dish for game day or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Wings

  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split at joints and tips removed

Seasoning and Oil

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning (plus more for sprinkling)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Optional Finishing Touch

  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for finishing)
  • Chopped parsley or lemon wedges for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil and place a wire rack on top to allow air circulation around the wings for crispiness.
  2. Season Wings: In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with the vegetable oil, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder until each piece is evenly coated with the spices and oil.
  3. Arrange and Bake: Lay the seasoned wings in a single layer on the prepared wire rack. Bake in the oven for 40 to 45 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning and crispiness.
  4. Add Butter and Extra Seasoning (Optional): If desired, melt butter and toss the hot wings with it along with an additional pinch of Old Bay seasoning just before serving to enhance flavor and richness.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Garnish the wings with chopped parsley or serve alongside lemon wedges for a fresh citrus touch. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

  • The wings can also be cooked using an air fryer at 400°F (204°C) for 25 to 30 minutes for a quicker method.
  • For a spicier version, add cayenne pepper or a splash of hot sauce to the seasoning mix.
  • Serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing and celery sticks for a classic accompaniment.
