Description
These Healthy Chocolate Strawberry Yogurt Clusters are a delicious and nutritious frozen treat made with fresh strawberries, creamy Greek yogurt, and rich chocolate. Perfect as a guilt-free snack or dessert, they combine the sweetness of fruit with the indulgence of chocolate coating, while being easy to prepare and freezer-friendly.
Ingredients
Scale
Fruit & Dairy
- 1 1/2 cups diced strawberries (250g after dicing)
- 1 cup vanilla Greek yogurt (or dairy free Greek yogurt) (240g)
Sweetener
- 2 tbsp honey (or pure maple syrup, can omit if using sweetened yogurt)
Chocolate Coating
- 1 cup chocolate chips (170g)
- 1 tbsp coconut oil (12g) (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the base mixture: Line a baking sheet or large platter with wax or parchment paper to prevent sticking during freezing. In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced strawberries, vanilla Greek yogurt, and honey or maple syrup. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is well blended and uniform in texture.
- Create clusters: Using a spoon, drop dollops of the strawberry yogurt mixture onto the lined baking tray. Spread each dollop gently into a small patty shape to form clusters for freezing.
- Freeze the clusters: Place the baking sheet in the freezer for at least three hours or overnight until the clusters are fully frozen and firm.
- Melt the chocolate coating: Carefully melt the chocolate chips either in the microwave in short bursts or by using a double boiler method on the stovetop. For a smoother, more easily spreadable coating, stir in the optional coconut oil into the melted chocolate until fully combined.
- Coat the clusters: Remove the frozen strawberry yogurt clusters from the freezer. Dip each cluster individually into the melted chocolate to coat it thoroughly. Return the chocolate-coated clusters to the freezer to set the chocolate for a few minutes.
- Storage and serving: Enjoy the clusters cold as a refreshing snack or dessert. Store any leftovers in a covered container in the freezer, where they will remain fresh and tasty for up to three months.
Notes
- You can use dairy-free Greek yogurt to make this recipe vegan.
- If your yogurt is already sweetened, you can omit the honey or maple syrup.
- The coconut oil in the chocolate is optional but helps achieve a smoother coating.
- Keep the clusters frozen until just before serving to maintain their texture.
- Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
