Description

These Crispy Baked Feta Rolls with Hot Chili Lemon Honey are easy-to-make, golden, and packed with bold flavors. Wrapped in crisp phyllo pastry and filled with tangy feta cheese, they are baked to perfection and drizzled with a warm, zesty chili lemon honey sauce for an irresistible appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Feta Rolls

  • 200 g feta cheese, cut into small rectangular sticks
  • 6 sheets phyllo pastry
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)

Hot Chili Lemon Honey Sauce

  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 small red chili, finely chopped (or ½ tsp chili flakes)
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare phyllo pastry: Lay one sheet of phyllo on a clean, dry surface and brush it evenly with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush with butter again. Then cut the layered sheets into strips about 6–8 cm wide.
  3. Assemble rolls: Place a feta cheese stick at one end of each phyllo strip. Fold the sides over the feta, then roll tightly into a cylindrical shape to enclose the cheese securely.
  4. Brush and sprinkle: Brush the outside of each roll with melted butter. If desired, sprinkle with sesame seeds for extra texture and flavor.
  5. Bake rolls: Arrange the rolls on the lined baking tray and bake them in the oven for 15–20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Make chili lemon honey: While the rolls are baking, gently warm honey in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in the finely chopped chili, lemon zest, and lemon juice, cooking for 1–2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat.
  7. Drizzle and garnish: Once the rolls are baked, drizzle the hot chili lemon honey over them and garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired.
  8. Serve immediately: Serve these crispy baked feta rolls warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Handle phyllo pastry carefully as it dries out quickly; cover unused sheets with a damp towel.
  • Adjust the amount of chili to tailor the sauce’s spiciness to your preference.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute feta with a suitable vegan cheese alternative and ensure phyllo is vegan-friendly.
  • These rolls are best served fresh out of the oven to retain their crispy texture.
