Ingredients
Scale
Mushrooms
- 24 White Button Mushrooms (cleaned with stems removed)
Stuffing
- 2 tablespoons Onion (finely chopped)
- 2 tablespoons Red bell pepper (finely chopped)
- ½ pound Crab claw meat
- 1 cup Gruyere cheese (shredded, divided)
- ¼ teaspoon Garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- Salt & Pepper to taste
- 3 tablespoons Seasoned Panko breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Prepare stuffing mixture: In a bowl, combine finely chopped onion, red bell pepper, ½ cup of shredded Gruyere cheese, garlic powder, and Old Bay seasoning. Stir well to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Add crab meat: Gently fold in the crab claw meat into the vegetable and cheese mixture until fully incorporated. Season with salt and pepper to taste, being careful not to overmix and break up the crab meat.
- Fill mushroom caps: Using a spoon, fill each cleaned mushroom cap with the crab stuffing mixture, distributing evenly among all mushrooms. Place the stuffed mushroom caps on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
- Top with cheese and breadcrumbs: Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of shredded Gruyere cheese over the tops of the stuffed mushrooms. Then evenly sprinkle the seasoned panko breadcrumbs on top for a crispy crust.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the stuffed mushrooms in the oven for 20-30 minutes, or until the mushrooms are cooked through, the cheese is melted, and the breadcrumb topping is golden brown and crispy.
- Serve: Remove the stuffed mushrooms from the oven and serve immediately while warm as an appetizer or party snack.
Notes
- Make sure to clean mushrooms gently with a damp cloth to avoid waterlogging them.
- Use fresh crab claw meat for the best flavor and texture, or substitute with lump crab meat if preferred.
- If desired, add a squeeze of lemon juice to the stuffing for a bright, fresh flavor.
- Seasoned panko crumbs can be made by mixing plain panko with a little garlic powder, paprika, and dried herbs.
- These can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
