Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 1 ½ cups chocolate cookie crumbs
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
Filling & Topping
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 to 1½ cups cherry pie filling or pitted cherries
- Optional: chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Make the Crust: In a bowl, combine the chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter until the mixture is evenly moistened and crumbly.
- Press and Chill: Firmly press the crumb mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan to form the crust. Place the crust in the refrigerator and chill for at least 30 minutes to set.
- Prepare Whipped Cream: In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream using a mixer until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar while continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
- Assemble the Pie: Spread an even layer of the whipped cream over the chilled chocolate cookie crust.
- Add Cherry Filling: Spoon the cherry pie filling or pitted cherries evenly over the whipped cream layer to create the fruit component.
- Optional Topping: Add more whipped cream or sprinkle chocolate shavings on top for extra flavor and decoration.
- Chill before Serving: Refrigerate the assembled pie for at least 2 hours or until fully set. Slice and serve chilled for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- The crust must chill thoroughly to hold its shape before adding the filling.
- Use good quality cherry pie filling or fresh pitted cherries for the best flavor.
- To make chocolate shavings, use a vegetable peeler on a chocolate bar.
- For a firmer pie, whipping cream can be stabilized by adding a small amount of gelatin if desired.
- Keep the pie refrigerated and consume within 2 days for optimal freshness.
